Optimizing Hypertension Control

Presenter: Dr. Joel Handler, Kaiser Permanente's lead hypertension physician in Southern California, is a nationally recognized hypertension clinical leader. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Hypertension and regularly publishes articles on cases of difficult to control high blood pressure. Dr. Handler is also currently an expert panel member of the 8th Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure, which is developing updated national hypertension treatment guidelines scheduled for release in the spring of 2011.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:1) Implement Strategies for maximizing hypertensive and risk factor control, and
2) Apply an effective hypertension management protocol

Target Audience: Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants
