Dr. Lancer A. Scott, Director of the Center for Health Professional Training and Emergency Response (CHPTER) and Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina, will lead a discussion about the basics of disaster preparedness that all healthcare workers in South Carolina should know. At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Assess the threats, vulnerabilities and security risks facing healthcare facilities and patient care providers in South Carolina.
- List specific actions to take and those to avoid during a healthcare disaster.
- Summarize components of teamwork, communication and triage that are essential to an effective response during a healthcare disaster.
