Bodequia Simon LMSW
Bodequia Simon is a Licensed Masters Social Worker, earning her BSW and MSW from the University of South Carolina. She is a native of Florence, SC and has a diverse background with experience in various settings ranging from Child Welfare, Mental Health, Hospice, Medical and Library Settings. She previously served as the first Library Social Worker for Orangeburg County, where she provided one-on-one referral and resource assistance to visitors of the library with social and health needs. Currently, she is excelling in her role as a Managed Care Coordinator with Blue Cross Blue Shield making contributions to healthcare outcomes for the Medicaid population across the state. Bodequia is also the creator and visionary of Black Girls in Social Work, the leading networking organization of over 31,000 Black women professionals and students of Social Work. She designed Black Girls in Social Work’s online community and current initiatives making an impact on the personal growth, professional advancement, and empowerment of its members and affiliates. Bodequia cultivated an online space that has led thousands of Black women in the Social Work field to securing job and internship opportunities, earning increases, exam preparation, career development, and mentorship matching. Additionally, she is a Speaker and Social Work Creative focused on educating the public about the societal impact of Social Workers and assisting in breaking current barriers for emerging Social Workers in the field. She has a passion for mentoring Social Work students and using her skills and platform to contribute to the professional development of others.
