Dawn MacAdams MSN, RN, NCSN
Dawn MacAdams has been a Registered Nurse for 32 years. She earned her BSN from the Catholic University of America in 1988 and her MSN from Grand Canyon University in 2014.
Dawn began her nursing career in east Baltimore at Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Adult ED/ Level I trauma center and worked her way up to charge nurse. While working full time at Johns Hopkins, she worked as an evening adjunct nursing instructor at Montgomery Community College, as well as prn work in several local emergency departments.
In 1994, Dawn went prn at Johns Hopkins and began working in home health in Howard County and Baltimore County, Maryland. She moved to Columbia, South Carolina in May 1995, and worked in home health in the Midlands area.
Dawn joined the school nursing team in Richland School District Two in August 1997, working in several elementary schools her first five years, then a busy middle school for five years. In 2007, she became the District Lead Nurse, where she serves today.
Dawn has been a Nationally Certified School Nurse since 2009. She is a BLS Instructor with the American Heart Association, a NASN School Emergency Triage Training instructor (SETT), a Stop-the-Bleed instructor with the American College of Surgeons, an Anaphylaxis Community Educator, and a former Epinephrine School Resource Nurse (former NASN program). She is a former Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), former Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor (ACLS), and a Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) provider with instructor potential.
