Cara M Thompson PhD, LMFT, LMFT/S
Dr. Cara Thompson is an Assistant Professor and Field Placement Coordinator at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor (LMFT/S) in South Carolina and an LMFT in North Carolina. Dr. Thompson also has a small private practice for seeing clients. Her specializations include addressing the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Early Life Stress (ELS) and teaching helping professionals and those in leadership roles with understanding the implications of stress responses in educational and workplace settings. Dr. Thompson's research interest and experience is in neuroscience-informed counseling, interdisciplinary collaboration, family and relational therapies, early life stress, and points of intersection between those topics.
