Description
The Critical Thinking course is designed to help nurses think critically when caring for patients, which can be difficult given the fast pace of bedside nursing. The definition of critical thinking is broken down into its various aspects and attributes. This portion includes a new view of Bloom’s Taxonomy that is put into a usable format. Barriers that can contribute to gaps in critical thinking are discussed utilizing scenario analysis. The course addresses critical thinking in nursing specifically and how to help develop this, especially in the less experienced nurses. Case studies are utilized to facilitate learning by allowing the participants to immediately apply the skills learned during the course.

Keywords: critical, thinking, nurse
