Description
This course will cover foundational principles of vaccines, including modalities, development, testing, monitoring, effectiveness, and schedules.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Compare different vaccine modalities
  • Describe important steps of vaccine testing during development
  • Summarize vaccine safety monitoring programs
  • Explain approaches that allowed expedited approval and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in 2020
  • Summarize the effectiveness of selected vaccines to prevent infection or severe illness
  • Define the concept of herd immunity
  • Utilize the CDC vaccine schedules to make recommendations for appropriate vaccinations for patients
