Description
Social workers encounter ethical dilemmas and challenges throughout their careers, across all areas of their practice. These situations often demand immediate decisions and can test a social worker's principles, values, and morals. Social workers must balance their responsibilities to clients, colleagues, their agency, the community, and society. The Code of Ethics serves as a guiding framework for decision-making within social work practice, yet many social workers still struggle with navigating and resolving ethical dilemmas effectively. Participants would increase their knowledge of the Code of Ethics and how to apply it in real-world situations. They would develop stronger decision-making skills, better aligning their actions with their principles, values, and responsibilities. Social workers would be empowered to handle ethical challenges with greater confidence and integrity, improving outcomes for clients, colleagues, agencies, communities, and society.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify concepts associated with ethical decision-making related to competency.
  • Analyze tools and strategies to apply to ethical dilemmas.
