Description
This program will provide education on Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, insulin pump therapy, and the recognition and treatment of hyper and hypoglycemia in school aged children.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define diabetes and describe its pathophysiology.
  • Identify the forms of glucose monitoring, insulin delivery, and ketone detection and management.
  • Review the indications for glucagon, including the different forms of glucagon treatment.
  • Discuss available CGMs and sensor components and the benefits and challenges of each.
  • Discuss insulin pump therapy principles, available pumps, and troubleshooting pump management.
  • Recognize hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia; describe the treatment for each.
  • Recognize commonly used forms for students with diabetes
