Description
This talk will address how adverse childhood experiences (ACES), the use of mood-altering chemicals and some of the sources of suicidal ideation have led to an increase of suicide rates for those people who struggle with substance use disorders.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss how adverse childhood experiences contribute to the intersection of substance use and suicide.
  • Discuss the links of opiate use and suicide.
  • Identify ways to help prevent suicide as it relates to ACES and overdose.
