Description
This is an introduction to suicide prevention. This course will assist participants to understand ways they can help a person who is having thoughts of suicide. PowerPoint, and open discussion will be learning elements throughout the course. The goal is to have people feel more confident when asking someone about suicide while also opening the door and reducing stigma when talking about suicide. There will also be time for questions at the end of the course.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the risk factors and warning signs of suicide.
  • Review appropriate language to ask if someone if having thoughts of suicide.
  • Explain how to use the Stanley Brown Safety Plan.
  • Identify appropriate resources for people at risk of suicide.
