Description
The factors that influence where we live, work and play have a tremendous impact on one’s health, and these factors can affect anyone, regardless of age, race, ethnicity. These social determinants of health have an even more critical impact on health in rural environments where access to quality health services can be limited. This presentation will cover the basic concepts of health and well-being, provide definitions and examples of the various social determinants of health in rural environments and provide an overview of trends in health outcomes as related to the factors that influence health.

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the concepts of health and well-being.
  • Define and explain the social determinants of health.
