Description
Participants will learn about the elements of professionalism, including communication and demeanor. This course includes a pre-test, assignment, post-test and evaluation. The module objectives are aligned to the following SC Health Science Standards: Foundation of Healthcare Professions Standard 4: Employability Skill: Use employability skills to enhance employment opportunities and job satisfaction. 4.1.c Showcase personal traits, attitudes, and employability skills desirable in a member of the healthcare team through participation in healthcare work-based learning experiences (guest speakers, virtual tours, job shadowing, virtual job shadowing, blood drives, community service projects, HOSA, etc.). (Health Science 2) 4.3 Summarize professional standards as they apply to hygiene, dress, language, confidentiality, and behavior. (Health Science 1)
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of professionalism in the workplace.
  • Summarize professional standards for a health care work environment.
  • Identify characteristics of professionalism in the healthcare setting.
