Preparing for college is an exciting time, but it also comes with important financial decisions. This session is designed to help high school and college students build essential money management skills for success. It will also offer valuable resources to help guide you in making informed financial choices for college.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Explore the FAFSA process and how to maximize financial aid opportunities.
  • Compare and contrast scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study to identify the best funding options.
  • Create an order of operations for paying for college to minimize debt.

The sessions are presented as part of the South Carolina AHEC Health Careers Program targeted at high school, undergraduate, and gap year pre-health students. A certificate of participation is only given to those who attend and complete an evaluation. This program does not meet professional development requirements for practicing health professionals.
