Description
The purpose of this interprofessional CE activity is to give primary care providers a comprehensive update in the medical management of the heart failure syndrome, including specific treatment recommendations for the different types of heart failure and an overview and analysis of the latest clinical trial information evaluating new therapies for this chronic medical condition.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the epidemiology and pathophysiology of heart failure (HF) with respect to different HF phenotypes.
  • Recognize social determinants of health that impact the care of patients living with HF.
  • Define the role of each member of the healthcare team in the medical management of HF.
  • Review recently published HF clinical trial information.
  • Discuss guideline-directed management of HF drug therapy.
  • Summarize the effectiveness of HF drug therapy on patient morbidity and mortality using the concept of number-needed-to-treat (NNT).
