Description
Each day in the United States of America, 135 people succumb to suicide. For professionals working in health care, the probability that one will have to address this issue with someone is extremely high. Learning how to recognize suicidal ideation, assess for its current lethality and knowing how to intervene effectively is therefore vital to preventing these deaths. This workshop will address the warning signs of suicidality, the clinical manifestations of suicidal behaviors and choosing the appropriate interventions for these patients.
Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate the myths and facts of suicidology.
  • Recognize clinical manifestations of suicidal behavior.
  • Formulate a skilled assessment of the severity of the suicidal behavior.
  • Choose appropriate interventions with suicidal individuals.
  • Identify the victims of suicide and implement treatment strategies for their issues.
