Description
Motivational interviewing is a counseling method that helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the motivation they need to change their behavior. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes. This program is designed to teach participants of all experience levels how to apply the general principles of motivational interviewing, understand the stages of change, and explain the 21 solution-oriented techniques to help evoke behavioral changes.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • identify core beliefs necessary for core professionals to be an effective change agent.
  • identify where clients are in stages of change and grief and how to assist.
  • identify strategic questions for evoking memory reconsolidation/change.
  • identify 21 solutions oriented techniques.
